newborn - baby Carter

I had the pleasure of photographing 5 day old Carter, a lil' munchkin who just didn't want to catch those zzz's! Now, I don't know if it is just my presence or what, but this will be the third newborn session I have captured where the baby just doesn't want to sleep - maybe it just means they aren't camera shy :)

Grandma Jenn contacted me as she had wanted to capture her new adorable grandson and this precious fleeting moment for parents, Matt and Jenna. When I arrived, her son Matt opened the door and the first thing I noticed were his eyes - it reminded me of that photo of the Afghanistan girl on the cover of National Geographic. I spent the session chatting with the parents and grandparents...and tossing my very experienced motherly advice along the way (which really wasn't much) ;p You could feel the love in the room for baby Carter, coupled with a new parents growing love and apprehension (been there, am still there!), and the grandparents strength, encouragement, and support. A few of my favorites from the session below:

My ultimate fav shot of the day!

Thank you to the Day family for letting me in your lives and allowing me to capture baby Carter. I hope you love the photos and will cherish them for years to come. They really do grow fast (there's a reason why everyone says this!) - Matt & Jenna, if there is anything I gleaned from spending the small window of time with your family, it is that you both will be amazing parents and if there ever was a question (or two or three or more), you have loving (grand)parents to fall upon.

xx, M
